Simple or total mastectomy involves removal of the whole breast but underarm lymph nodes are not removed.Double mastectomy involves the removal of both the breasts as a surgery to prevent women who have a high risk of getting breast cancer from it.There is also skin sparing mastectomy which deals with the areola and the nipple.
